Sainthood

Have you ever thought of becoming a saint? We are all called for sainthood. Who are saints? They are ordinary persons who just did something extraordinary in their lifetime.

Sainthood is trying our best to perfect the imperfect in us inspite of our weaknesses and sinfulness. That is why anybody can become a saint if we only will it and discipline our selves.

he psychology behind sainthood for me is that every person's behavior is either consciously or unconsciously done from the conscious and subconscious levels of our mind. Thus, the mental processes should be well thought of in order to be purified towards goodness. But, those beyond our control or our blind spot should be offered and surrendered to God for His grace to enter our being.

Problems

Some people look at situations in life as challenges but for some problems. Life depends on our outlook in every circumstance of daily living.

Facing varied events in life describes the character of an individual either weak or strong. We have to choose to become strong in encountering trials in life. We should not choose to be weak because it is the beginning of problems in us.

There are many factors to be considered in building the character of a person. Genetics and environment are major factors because heredity, family and people in general influence character formation.

Our conscious effort to change in order to become good or better is necessary despite of the realities of life.

Mental Hygiene

We take good care of our physical self by taking a bath, brushing our teeth, exercise, good nutrition, enough sleep, and the like. But, what about our mental hygiene?

We should also take care of our mind in order to be happy and successful in life. Positive thinking is the foundation of mental hygiene in order to focus one's direction in life. But, the question is, are we positive? Always remember that positive energy will attract positive vibration also and if not, there will be a "short circuit" in our mindfulness which will lead to negative currents.

Be positive in all the things you do as long as it is for your own good and common good.

Suicide

It was broadcasted in one of the top rated tv news programs last year that there was an increased suicide rate in the Philippines. The question is why?

The reasons differ from one person to another whether rich or poor. But, the bottomline of the issue is that there is meaninglessness among Filipinos who chose to commit suicide. When somebody starts to experience meaninglessness in life, he starts to feel hopeless in everything he tries to do. Thus, absurdity in one's outlook in life prevails within the human system.

Every human being has suicidal tendency. For some who were successful in ending one's life is a pity that such act has not been prevented. How could it be prevented from happening?

The best way to prevent such bad scenario to happen is to have a positive mind in order to have positive emotion for positive behavior to follow. It is easily said than done because when you are facing a difficult problem, it is seldom that you remember to be always positive. The normal reaction is to be negative, that's why the solution to the problem is hard to find.

What is it to have meaning in life in order for positiveness to be internalized within? Searching for meaning in life is a primordial goal of every individual because the individual owes it to his own self. Finding meaning in life makes this individual be secured of his day to day life. It gives direction to his future endeavor which makes suicide no sense at all.

Thus, if every Filipino has a meaningful life, Philippines will become a good country to live in. It is because Filipinos developed inner: joy, peace, charity, faith, justice, trust and sense of self. Through these inner virtues and values, a sincere mission in life is being discovered which is a manifestation of an internalized positiveness from within.

Our mission qualifies our sense of nationhood because this mission anchored upon positiveness is the start of a good beginning to transform our country from where it is now to a good Philippines.

As a matter of fact, a positive mission is the result of a positive vision. A vision which is to be the best that we can become is in order to have a country capable of becoming the best that it can be.
